Saint-Tropez: Les Dames sacrées!

The 13th edition of the Dames de Saint-Tropez was a resounding success, driven by two superb days of racing in the Tropez bay and a unique atmosphere that brought together more than 150 crew members. Combining sporting performance, the elegance of traditional sailing yachts and conviviality ashore, the event once again confirmed its special place in the nautical calendar, with the support of a prestigious new partner, L’Oréal.

Scheduled for this Sunday, May 10, the final race could not be launched due to unfavorable weather conditions. The strong easterly wind, but above all a particularly large swell in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, with 2-meter swells, led the race committee, chaired by Alice Coquant, to prioritize the safety of the crews and the Traditional yachts entered. A responsible decision which in no way detracts from the success of this 2026 edition, already marked by the quality of the line-up, the intensity of the races and the festive moments ashore.
At the prize-giving ceremony, in the presence of Michel Perrault, Deputy for Culture for the City of Saint-Tropez, the President of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez thanked the entire team at sea and ashore, the volunteers and all the crew, not forgetting the partners who make it possible to organize this unique event.

ONE WAVE and MARIA GIOVANNA II the big winners in 2026

After two days of racing in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, in the “Vintage Ladies” group, the 6mJI One Wave with Alexia Barrier finished in first place on the overall podium, ahead of Sérénade helmed by Charlotte Franquet and Irene VIII with Frédérique Brule.

In the “Ladies Classic” group, Maria Giovanna II helmed by Sylvie Godquin won ahead of Argynne3 helmed by Anne Rodelato and Ratafia skippered by Anne Cossec.
Maria Giovanna II ‘s crew also won the prize for the 100% female crew in all classes. All the crew members went home with gifts from L’Oréal, including an Anthelios Uvmune 400 sun protection cream from La Roche-Posay.

“We fought hard, especially against Sérénade and Irène VIII… There was a lot of competition on the race course, so it’s even nicer to be first when you’re up against some superb sailors! I really enjoyed the coastal courses we did over the two days, which always give you a chance to contemplate the magnificent Bay of Saint-Tropez, and to go a little further afield. And with OneWave, the vintage 6mJI, I love this boat, I’m European vice-champion, so I’ve rediscovered the extraordinary sensations aboard this boat, which is really a regatta machine at the helm, it’s really a gift from the owner, as he does every time he invites me!

Les Dames de Saint-Tropez, true to its reputation: great sailing conditions in the Bay of Saint-Tropez, magnificent boats, even more beautiful crews! What I really enjoy is meeting up with all these exceptional women sailors. There are some great winners in the fleet, and also some newcomers, always younger generations or older ones who discover regattas and sailing thanks to the Dames de Saint-Tropez! I think it’s really extraordinary, and well done to the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez for organizing this wonderful event. It’s an atmosphere of goodwill and sisterhood, and it’s very important to be able to evolve in this atmosphere to be able to progress with confidence, so long live the Dames de Saint-Tropez! ”

Sylvie Godquin –1st Ladies Classic group on Maria Giovanna II

“This is the eighth time I’ve taken part in the Dames de Saint-Tropez regatta. It’s always a great pleasure for me to come back, because there’s a really special atmosphere, you don’t let go of anything on the water and you let go of everything on land, so it’s the perfect combo for a great race! We’re happy because we won the Overall in the 100% women’s category, and we had a really good time.

The courses were well-balanced. On the first day, we manoeuvred quite a bit, so we changed Spinnaker and gybed quite a bit downwind. And yesterday (Saturday), it was also a very pretty course, crossing this pretty bay of Saint-Tropez.
We’re a little ahead of our rivals (editor’s note: in terms of rating), so for next year, we’d like to have more competitors with us, but we’re not giving up on anything on board. And then there’s the festive side with the crew party. We arrived at the club (Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez) in Harley Davindson (in costume), and it’s this whole package that makes us love coming and we’ll be there next year!

Perrine Biesse is one of the young crew members who have come aboard the yachts taking part in the Dames through the AFYT :

“We’re at the Central Méditerranée school in Marseille (a leading public engineering school). For the past two years, we’ve been involved in an association project that enables us to sail on exceptional boats, and for us, it’s a great opportunity. We’re all a bit of sailors to begin with – we sail on a J80 at our school – but to find ourselves on boats like this (classic sailboats) is just crazy! The event is incredible – there’s a great atmosphere on board too – the fact that it’s all girls is great, because we dare to ask more questions and get involved than in a mixed team”.
