The 48th ArMeN Festival closes 1 day early, but what an edition! A very sporty and windy first weekend off the Tropez coast, a superb ski competition in Auron, and a strategic last day with oscillating winds in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.
With the weather forecast calling for rain, rough seas and strong gusts of wind, the race committee led by Alice Coquant decided to cancel the final race scheduled for Sunday March 15.
At the end of this intense week, MAJOLAN, Christian Le Floch’s First 310 S GTE is for the third time (and second time in a row) the big winner of the ArMeN Festival, winning the famous ARMEN Trophy (Art-Ski and Sailing), the André Hermann Challenge (Ski-Sailing), the Sailing ranking for all classes and the Skiing event with the best time of 58 seconds and 16 hundredths!
Denis Favier’s crew on the sailboat IEMANJA 2 wins the Challenge ” René Perrier ” 1ercombinéArt-Voile!
The PILI PILI team member, Anne Sophie Bobet, took1st prize for the work of art after deliberation by a jury of artists.
At the early prize-giving ceremony on Saturday March 14, Pierre Roinson, President of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, thanked the participants, without whom there would be no event, the SNST team, all the volunteers ashore who gave their all to welcome the guests, and the team at sea who got wet in both senses of the word during the regattas!
Many thanks also to the Club’s partners, including a newcomer: Les Maitres Vignerons. Accompanied by the “Atout bout d’Chant” music group, the week ended with a cocktail party for the crews.
On the Art side, a magnificent exhibition, organized for decades by sculptor Cécile de Kock, with the participation of five local painters and sculptors, was held at the Lavoir Vasserot and continues until March 17 inclusive. The third challenge for the competing sailors – to create a work of art on the theme of this year’s “Guardians of the Sea” – inspired the sailors, with almost twenty works produced and exhibited at the SNST Club House.
On the snow side, some thirty competitors took advantage of a sunny, snowy day to take part in a slalom skiing competition organized by the Auron ski school.
In the Sailing rankings, after four hotly contested races :
In the IRC group, BIM 3 by Jérémy Combe (SN ST Tropez) won ahead of OJALA by Michele Frova (Italy) and BERNINA X by Marc Verdet.
