All of them were able to race in the most beautiful fairness, in the respect of the safety rules, within groups respecting harmoniously the characteristics of size and tonnage of each sailboat. After two years of severe restrictions due to the pandemic, Les Voiles have also returned to their trademark, the inimitable spirit of fair play and conviviality linked to the passion of yachting. The sea, the sun, the sumptuous regattas have celebrated in an ideal way the 160 years of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, organizer of the event, under the leadership of President Pierre Roinson and his teams.

A reference edition!

This 24th edition of the Voiles de Saint-Tropez is undoubtedly a milestone. Each of the two weeks saw the world’s most beautiful yachts, both classic and modern, compete against each other, sometimes in the wind, sometimes in the light airs. 46 of the latter, called Maxi because of their size over 60 feet, constituted one of the largest gatherings of this type in the Mediterranean. The last event of their inshore circuit, Saint-Tropez saw the coronation of Capricorno, the best Maxi of the season orchestrated by the International Maxi Association. The IMA also took advantage of the dynamic of the Voiles to open its entries to Multihulls, and to foilers, who are now invited to the Tropéziennes starting lines.

The village, the beating heart of the Voiles

One of the great satisfactions of President Roinson and his teams is, beyond the show and the sporting aspect, the beautiful conviviality encountered throughout the 15 days in the heart of the Village des Voiles, the essential nerve center of the expression of the good mood of the sailors from all over the world. An eco-designed village that was also unanimously appreciated until late each evening.

See you in 2023, from September 30 to October 14 (to be confirmed)

The date is naturally set for the 2023 edition which, as usual, will begin on the last Saturday of September, the 30th in this case, for a celebration scheduled until October 14.

Pierre Roinson, President of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez

“This fortnight has totally met our expectations. We are all delighted. All of us, that is to say the teams of La Nautique, the partners, the sailors, all those who invested themselves, and who leave conquered. We were spoiled by the summer weather. In total, we welcomed 260 Modern, Classic and Maxi boats, and nearly 3,000 sailors. It is a success. We have also found the spirit of the Nioulargue, the party, the conviviality, a great atmosphere in the evening around the bar. Our second week found its marks, with many spectators, on the sea wall and the Jean Réveille quay. Everything is not perfect and we know the points we have to improve. But our efforts to preserve the environment have produced very concrete and measurable results, notably with the implementation of geopositioned electric buoys, without any impact on the seabed, and thanks to the dematerialization of our documents, notices of race, endorsements, registration forms and results, all of which are now accessible only by digital means. I think next year will be even better. The crews of Magic Carpet3 and Tango who participated in the first Club 55 Cup dedicated to Maxis were delighted to compete in this unique moment of the Voiles and to meet afterwards at Patrice de Colmont’s for a rare moment of sharing. It is important to find this spirit in the second week, which is by nature more professional than the first. Georges Korhel’s teams are doing a remarkable job. They have been able to launch and validate races and this is to their credit. I believe that the Voiles are wonderfully relaunched after two years of Covid…”

They were at the Sails :

Alexia Barrier – Titouan Bernicot
