10th EDITION of the offshore race…….. Starting March 23th, 2019
The 10th edition of this non-stop Mediterranean offshore race, previously known as the « Saint-Tropez Offshore », has been renamed the “Nautical 900” for 2019. Whilst crews will race the 900 nautical miles, single-handed sailors, welcomed since 2015, and double-handed teams since 2016 will race a reduced course. This was set at 600nm in 2017. A further modification in 2018 has the double and single-handed entrants racing a 400nm course, whilst full crews maintain the 900 nautical mile challenge.
As with each year, following the safety and measurement inspections, the course and race direction will be determined according to meteorological conditions and announced by Race Director Georges Korhel the day before the start. Compulsory gates include: south of the Balearic Islands, the base of Sardinia, the Pontine Islands, north Corsica before crossing the finish line in Saint-Tropez.
This renowned event offers a breath-taking course, a unique welcome, a celebrated crew evening, extraordinary weather conditions … All that is needed to attract offshore enthusiasts! A challenging race and good training ground for professionals and amateurs alike with transatlantic racing on their horizon, not to exclude other major off-shore events such as the Transquadra, Figaro, Route du Rhum, etc. Note that this event also counts for the IRC Mediterranean Offshore Championships.
