DRAGON GOLD CUP
From 13th to 20th of October 2017
After the very successful 75th anniversary of the Dragons in 2004 which gathered
more than 260 boats in Saint-Tropez, the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez and
the Association Française de la Série Internationale des Dragon (France-Dragon)
decided to repeat this October event.
In 2009, the IDA (International Dragon Association) and France-Dragon asked the
SNST to organise the European Dragon Championships in Saint-Tropez, a wonderful
competition with more than 100 entrants.
In 2017, Saint-Tropez hosts the Gold Cup, a sort of world championships raced
annually in Europe and initiated in 1937 by the Clyde Yacht Club in order to bring
together as many competitors of different nationalities as possible apart from the
Olympics (The Dragon was an Olympic Class from 1948 to 1972). After Palma, it
will be the second Gold Cup to take place in the Mediterranean, a pride for the SNST
which is thus rewarded for the quality of its organisation.
